Assemble a Unique Bracelet | For Experienced Beginner | One day course

For those experienced in jewellery making and wish to improve on their skills or focus on particular technique in greater depth. This course enables you to create a bracelet that is made up of three parts. The parts will be created using techniques such as chain making, hammering, reticulation, graduation, forming and cutting.


Class Two

A brief introduction to Selina and her work, and a chance for you to discuss what you would like to achieve from the course. Selina will show you with basic tools and materials required for jewellery making and where to buy them. Then go through workshop environment and Health & Safety issues. Selina will go through a series of demonstrations that you will then have a go at yourself - first under supervision and then with no one watching you. It will run at a pace that suits you.

Techniques and skills taught in this class will be: accurate cutting and piercing silver, Using a piercing saw to cut straight lines and shapes basic, shaping/bending/manipulating, Annealing and silver properties, Hammering, Basic chain making and jump rings , Understanding the soldering process, Filing and finishing, Hallmarking issues and lastly Polishing and surface treatments.

We will create three charms, one cast, second shaped and reticulated and lastly cut shape with textured surface through hammering.

Once the basics have been learnt Selina will help you make a unique Charm Bracelet. You will cut, solder, file and polish a perfect piece of jewellery that you will be able to take home with you at the end of the day. Materials are included up to the value of £50.

 

Prices and added information

£240 for day- Including materials up to the value of £70.

Class runs from 10:30 until 16:30 (unless other arrangements have been made) possibly longer if needed.

Don't wear your best clothes! Jewellery making can get dirty, an apron will be provided. Lessons have to be booked up to 2 weeks in advance. Additional days can also be booked if you would like to spend more time on a particular topic. Start and finish times are flexible and can be discussed when booking.

A £50 non-refundable deposit is payable at the time of booking per person. The balance can be paid on the day of your course. If less then 24 hours notice is provided for cancellation, full course fee will be charged. Materials are included up to the value of £10 per day. Any additional materials used above this value will be charged at cost.

 

Location

The lessons will be held at Selina's studio situated in the heart of the northern quarter of Manchester city centre, just a 15 minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly station, or 5 minutes from main shopping centre. Half an hour will be allocated for a lunch break. You can either bring a packed lunch or purchase something from local shops or cafe. Refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
